Mentorship is pivotal to education and career development, especially in the STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). To acknowledge mentorship impact, IGNITE Worldwide, along with Mentor and Me, Youth Employment Support (YES) Network, INCubator Entrepreneurship, and Construction Pre-Apprenticeship, were honored at a Federal Way Public Schools (FWPS) Board Meeting at Thomas Jefferson High School (Federal Way, WA) on Tuesday, January 6, 2024.
The accolade was presented by FWPS Superintendent Dr. Dani Pfeiffer, Board Members, and long-time IGNITE community member and FWPS Facilitator of Innovative Programs & Community Partnerships, Charissa Eggleston. IGNITE Worldwide Staff, Cheri Jensen, Lauren Johnson, Caitlin Duke, and Danielle Long, accepted the recognition on behalf of IGNITE Worldwide.
Effective mentorship plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of students, and IGNITE Worldwide’s commitment to education and career development, particularly in STEM, is evident in its years of collaborative support with FWPS initiatives.
Standing as a trailblazer in empowering girls and gender-diverse students in STEM, the IGNITE Program prioritizes providing students with representational role models. Active engagement between IGNITE Worldwide and Federal Way Public Schools is characterized by years of IGNITE Program Events that have impacted a substantial number of FWPS scholars, with noteworthy participation from companies and volunteers.
Looking ahead, IGNITE Worldwide reaffirms its commitment to providing the IGNITE Program to Federal Way Public Schools and its dedication to sustaining and expanding its positive impact on students’ lives.
Programming and initiatives that encourage equity are imperative to create a brighter future.
