IGNITE Worldwide Leader in Nigeria Honored for Pioneering Work in STEM Education
Abdulhakeem Oluwanisola Abdulraheem, a longtime leader of IGNITE Worldwide’s Nigeria Chapter and faculty member in the Department of Business Education at Federal College of Education, has received a prestigious Certificate of Publication from the International Council for Education, Research, and Training. This recognition celebrates his scholarly article, “Influence of Inspiring Girls Now In Technology Evolution (IGNITE) in Gender Equality in Science, Technology, and Mathematics (STEM) Education in Nigeria,” published in EDUMANIA-AN INTERNATIONAL MULTIDISCIPLINARY JOURNAL (Vol.03 Issue 01, Jan-Mar 2025).
Since 2015, Abdulraheem has been championing IGNITE Worldwide’s mission to empower girls and gender-diverse students in Nigeria by providing access to role models and opportunities in STEM fields. His leadership and dedication earned him IGNITE Worldwide’s International Best Practice Award in 2016, where he was honored alongside senior government officials in Nigeria — a testament to his influence and the program’s growing impact.
The newly awarded Certificate of Publication underscores Abdulraheem’s ongoing contributions to both academic research and grassroots change. His article highlights the vital role IGNITE Worldwide plays in fostering gender equity in STEM education, offering data-driven insights into the program’s effectiveness in Nigeria.
“Abdulraheem’s work embodies what IGNITE Worldwide stands for — inspiring students globally to envision a future where they belong and thrive in STEM careers,” said Cathi Rodgveller, CEO & Founder of IGNITE Worldwide. “His commitment, both on the ground and in the academic community, is paving the way for gender equity in STEM. We’re immensely proud of his achievements.”
IGNITE Worldwide hopes to reinstate its annual International Best Practice Awards in the future, celebrating leaders like Abdulraheem across its global chapters as they continue to create lasting change in their communities.
