Washington State Senate Honors IGNITE Worldwide for Advancing Women in STEM
At IGNITE Worldwide, we believe in the power of representation, mentorship, and experiential learning to inspire the next generation of women and gender-diverse changemakers in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). Now, our mission has been recognized at the highest levels through Washington State Senate Resolution 8621, which highlights the critical role of IGNITE Worldwide in transforming the STEM landscape for girls and gender-diverse youth.
Led by Senator Lisa Wellman and supported by Senators Boehnke, Chapman, Cortes, Dhingra, Krishnadasan, Lovelett, Saldaña, Shewmake, Trudeau, Hasegawa, and Slatter, the passed resolution acknowledges the persistent underrepresentation of women in technology and the barriers they face in advancing their careers. It specifically celebrates IGNITE Worldwide’s proven impact, including a 45% increase in young female enrollment in STEM classes in Washington between 2013 and 2017—a testament to our commitment to providing engaging, no-cost programs that introduce students to real-world STEM opportunities and encourage them with the ability to interact and hear from women in the fields they learn about.
We are honored to be recognized alongside Women in Cloud, another powerhouse organization dedicated to fostering diversity and inclusion in technology. Their contributions are helping to build a future where women and historically underrepresented groups have a strong presence in leadership and innovation.

It underscores the need for continued investment in representation, mentorship, professional development, and accessible STEM education for girls and gender-diverse students.
