STEM education is highly dependent on access to visual information: think of the amazing figures in your textbooks. Now imagine how difficult it would be to grasp those concepts without access to that visual information. Smith-Kettlewell Eye Research Institute works on giving blind and low vision people access to visual information and much more. Learn more at https://www.ski.org.
During this Field Trip, professionals at SKERI will demonstrate how technology can give people with sensory loss access to information. Students will also learn how to contribute to similar technology themselves. Students do not need any prior coding experience, but will need to bring laptops or other devices to engage in the activity.
