In-Person Panel at Garfield High School (Seattle)
Inspire IGNITE Students in STEM during an IGNITE Panel at Garfield High School at 400 23rd Ave, Seattle, WA 98122!
IGNITE aims to increase gender diversity in high-wage/high demand STEM fields, such as technology and engineering. Garfield High School serves a diverse student population, with high percentages of African-American and Asian students. Women, nonbinary, transgender, agender, and genderqueer professionals who represent these perspectives are highly encouraged to sign up as Panelists to share their stories and answer student questions!
AP Environmental Science students studying stormwater will attend this Panel, and would benefit from a wide variety of perspectives and experiences that may touch on this topic, including civil engineering, water treatment, and many more. Those outside of these careers are also welcome!
This is an incredible opportunity to change an IGNITE student’s life! After signing up as a panelist, volunteers are required to complete our Panelist Training at least once per school year and attend a live, interactive Virtual Panelist Coaching Session if they have not attended one in the past.
The total time commitment is about 2 hours of pre-event preparation for new Panelists and 30 minutes of preparation for returning Panelists, in addition to two hours for the event itself. Training must be completed by January 6.
Approximate time commitment:
New Panelist: 4 hours – 2 hours prep (training, coaching, materials review) + 2-hour event
Returning Panelist: 2.5 hours – 30 minutes prep + 2-hour event
